postpone?

i know that’s blasphemy but I’ll bet I’m not the only one thinking it....

Considering the lead time required to obtain a permit from the BLM, plus adding in the partial government shut down, I don’t think that postponing an event is even a remote possibility.

theres so much that goes into putting on an event, making a last minute change would be nearly impossible.

That is a very valid point....and yet I am left with the belief that running a race in the snow and ice presents as nothing short of dangerous.

For the adults in the lineup, that’s simply a question of assumption of the risk. But it’s not the adults I’m thinking of....its the pee wees.

To be square, I’ve never really understood why the MRANN schedules, year in and year out, always seem to have a February race in snow country.

I know the club was out marking over the weekend and at that time the road in and the pit area/peewee area was snow free.  I know they will be out this week again and am sure they will give a report of how it is.

Keep in mind that MRANN does not schedule the races, the clubs schedule and put on the races.

I just received the signed permit from the BLM today. We cannot move the date. There was significantly less snowfall in our race area than other places in Northern Nevada. Our race will proceed as planned with every intention of running the Peewees on an ice free course. We will sand the whole thing if we need to! We pride ourselves on running safe courses and this will be no exception. Hope to see you all out there this weekend. Rain or shine!
